The historical memory of our people has forever preserved the memory of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The war passed through the Soviet land with the heavy tank tracks, explosions of artillery shells and bombing of peaceful cities and villages, milled the fate of millions of people and divided the life of our people into before and after.

From the very first days of the war, artists, like the entire Soviet people, joined into the fight against the aggressor.

Works of fine art presented at the exhibition were created during the war years and in the post-war decade. Although they belong to the different styles and genres, they are united by powerful expressiveness, genuine sincerity and high artistic skill.

“Partisan’s Mother” by Sergei Gerasimov, “Native Land” by Yuri Neprintsev and “Victory Day. May 9, 1945 " by Vladimir Shtranich, - millions of our compatriots know these canvases from school textbooks on history and literature.

Panorama of the battle in the polyptych of Anatoly Gorpenko, Grigory Opryshko and Igor Radoman is impressive in its power, depicting one of the most important moments of the Great Patriotic War - the beginning of German troops defeat at Stalingrad in February 1943.

Pyotr Buchkin's work “Mother Heroine” is distinguished by the bright life-affirming color. It glorifies the triumph of life - the reunification of Soviet families after terrible trials.

Memory of the war is not only the gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of our future, but also the guarantee that fascism, defeated by our grandfathers and fathers, in all its manifestations will never raise its head again. The spirit memory is just as important component of historical memory as the memory of reason (memory of actual events). Without the memory of the heart, we will never understand how the generation of victors lived and could withstand in inhuman conditions.

Works of fine art - facts and images of war, experienced and concentrated in the hearts of artists-creators in bright symbols - convey to us the cold of the frozen fields near Moscow, and the resilience of Leningraders, and the unyielding gaze of sold

The feat of the people in the Holy War is immortal.

Eternal memory and glory to them!

The entrance to the exhibition is carried out with an entrance ticket to the museum.
